I’ve had the privilege of photographing Coco for many years now.
I photographed her first ESPN cover when she was still under 18. She was already a star then—not because of the rankings or the trophies, but because of the way she carried herself. Humble. Focused. Kind.
Over the years we’ve worked together for ESPN, New Balance, UPS, Carol’s Daughter, and Barilla, and one thing has never changed: she’s exactly the same person.
People see the champion. I’ve been lucky enough to see the human behind it.
She’s surrounded by an incredible family—her mom, dad, and siblings—who have clearly helped shape the person she’s become. And every shoot has felt like working with friends, especially alongside the endlessly talented (and endlessly kind) Nordia, who somehow always makes everyone look and feel their best.
Talent can take you to the top. Character is what keeps you there.
Watching Coco continue to grow into one of the greatest athletes in the world has been a joy. Watching her remain genuine through it all has been even more impressive.
Congratulations, Coco. The world gets to celebrate the champion. Those of us who’ve worked with you get to celebrate the person.
